How to verify a brand store before you buy

Use domain checks, seller details, and policy pages to distinguish an official brand route from a lookalike listing.

Begin at the brand's own website

Open the brand's main website and look for its official store, where-to-buy, or marketplace links. This is the safest way to find a genuine regional shop or Amazon storefront.

A social profile, search advertisement, or forwarded message is not enough on its own to establish that a checkout page belongs to the brand.

Inspect the domain and checkout

Read the address bar carefully before entering payment details. Check that the domain belongs to the brand and that checkout uses HTTPS.

Be cautious when a page imitates a brand design but asks for payment outside the normal checkout flow.

Confirm the marketplace seller

A product page can mention a brand without being sold by that brand. Open the seller profile and check the business name, feedback, and fulfillment information.

For expensive items, look for a direct link from the brand's own where-to-buy page to the marketplace storefront.

Review support terms in advance

Find the shipping, cancellation, return, and warranty pages before ordering. Save a copy or bookmark them so the terms are easy to find after delivery.
